Sport Premium Report 2016 - 17

At Oakridge Community Primary School;

  • We ensure that Teaching and Learning opportunities meet the needs of all our pupils.
  • We recognise that there are many benefits to ensuring that all the children participate in sports or other physical activities;
    • Develops strength, mobility and physical endurance
    • Supports the establishment of healthy lifestyles for life
    • Helps in weight control, especially important in the light of the current levels of childhood obesity.
    • Develop team work and social skills
    • Develop friendships
    • Develop listening skills
    • Have fun!
    • Our intention is to use the additional funding in four ways;

1 – To broaden our provision to offer a wider range of activities

2 – To up skill staff so that provision is sustainable and broader in the future

3 – To enhance sporting experiences for all children

4 – To have easily accessible good quality resources.

Sport Premium Funding is universal and therefore our aim will be for maximum benefit for all our children, including those that may not ordinarily see themselves as sporty.

Our typical current provision includes;

  • Weekly one and half hours of PE for all pupils
  • Swimming for all ages from Reception – one block of 8 weeks per year.
  • Voluntary free clubs (according to term) for football, netball, hockey, cricket, rugby, multi-skills, rounders and crazy games.
  • Participation in local tournaments and leagues.
  • Bikeability training for Y5/Y6.
  • Yearly trip around outdoor education or sport.
