About our School
We recognise that the personal development of pupils’, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, plays a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve. Therefore, we aim to provide pupils with opportunities to explore and develop their own values and beliefs, spiritual awareness, a caring attitude towards other people, an understanding of their social and cultural traditions and an appreciation of the diversity and richness of the cultures. The school will ensure that children should understand the influences that the culture in which they live, and that of the wider community influences has.
We work hard with our children to promote the values of democracy, liberty, mutual respect and tolerance for those of different faiths and beliefs.
Staff in our schools are adept at recognising appropriate situations in which they can develop pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, whether this is through taught lessons, assemblies, reading materials, displays or conversations in and around school.
Pupil voice is encouraged through our active school council, where pupils meet regularly to raise and discuss any issues and suggest improvements to our school community. We also take opportunities to demonstrate democracy in real-life situations, for example, when voting for decisions which impact on the school.
